We loved the article in last month's Daily Mail about unusual festive food fads. With that in mind, here are nine new ways to indulge this December - while still paying homage to holiday tradition:
Leftover Sundae
Forget turkey sandwiches, here's a novel way to reinvent leftover dessert on Boxing Day. This calorific creation mixes Christmas pud with mulled wine, ice-cream and chocolate to give you an enjoyable - and thoroughly naughty - treat.
Rudolph on Toast
Anyone for reindeer pâté? Before you dismiss it outright, bear in mind that reindeer has one of the lowest fat contents of red meat – a mere two per cent – so it could be the answer to festive pound-piling.
Dough-NUTS!
Combine sweet and savoury with Tesco's bizarre Turkey and Stuffing flavour doughnuts. They may not be Krispy Kreme, but they're a bargain at £1 for ten mini ones. Other products in their so-called Weirdough range include smoky bacon and cheese and onion flavour.
Sprout Smoothie
They're not just any sprouts, they're M&S sprouts, and that's why we shouldn't be surprised to see the much-maligned seasonal veg squashed into a drinks bottle with apple and pear for a Santa-friendly smoothie on the shop's shelves this December.
Sprout Sandwich
Same veg. Same store. This time, however, Marks and Spencer's are flogging it in coleslaw for sandwich fillings.
Mince Pie Cocktail
Combine Irish Cream, Cognac, fruit mincemeat, milk and a whole clementine for this pudding-based punch, dreamt up by Sainsbury's and London Cocktail Club owner JJ Goodman.
Pudding Pizza
If you'd rather not drink your December dessert, why not throw it onto some pizza dough instead à la hip London restaurant the Mayfair Pizza Co. Its Christmas Pudding Pizza, served flaming at the table, is made with Christmas pudding, custard brandy and redcurrant compote.
Dinner on dough
Double up on Italian by serving the restaurant's Christmas Dinner Pizza beforehand. Expect pulled turkey with all the trimmings - pigs-in-blankets, chestnut stuffing, roast potatoes, root vegetables, redcurrant compote and bread sauce.
Crimbo Cereal
Think gourmet Coco Pops. Think Christmas Morning Cereal. It's the brainchild of chef Dominique Ansel and is made with chocolatey caramel rice puffs, spiced hazelnuts and tiny meringues. Delicious and decadent.
