Without the right travel insurance, these unforeseen events could leave you seriously out of pocket, costing hundreds or even thousands of pounds.

Union Insurance Services are pleased to offer travel insurance cover, whatever your health circumstances are.

  • Why do I need travel insurance?

Every year, millions of people head abroad for their holidays. Unfortunately, for some, their trips will be  memorable for all the wrong reasons if they encounter emergencies like needing medical treatment  overseas. This is why having proper travel insurance is not just a luxury but a necessity. From medical  emergencies abroad, where treatment costs can be incredibly high, to trip cancellations due to  unforeseen circumstances, such as illness, travel insurance ensures you're not left covering hefty  expenses.

For example, the cost of medical treatment in Spain following a fall by a British holidaymaker and their emergency medical repatriation back to the UK cost a staggering £124,000.

In another instance, a UK traveller was treated for injuries from a fall in France. Their GHIC card paid for 80% of the cost,  still leaving them £16,000 to pay, including return back to UK. In both cases, the cost was paid by the travel insurer.1
